Today, we remember 9/11 as we reflect on that tragic event 24 years ago. It is a day to remember thousands of innocent people going about their day with no idea it would be their last. It's a day to remember all the heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice to help those in dire need. We will never forget, and may we always teach those younger about the events of that day.
Today, we mourn the loss of a martyr, Charlie Kirk, who was assassinated in Utah on 9/10. Our hearts are broken as we witness a world filled with sin and evil. Yesterday, we witnessed another High School shooting in Evergreen, Colorado. Yesterday, news from Poland was that Russia had sent 14 drones over the airspace of this NATO country. Just two days ago, news from the war in Ukraine was that 24 pensioners were killed as they stood in line for their monthly checks. Our hearts weep as we turn to God, our everlasting hope. "Brothers and sisters: Put on, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, heartfelt compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience, bearing with one another and forgiving one another, if one has a grievance against another; as the Lord has forgiven you, so must you also do. And over all these put on love, that is, the bond of perfection. And let the peace of Christ control your hearts, the peace into which you were also called in one Body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, as in all wisdom you teach and admonish one another, singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or in deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him." Colossians 3:12-17 NIV
